As we are flying Iceland Air we took advantage of prepaying our baggage fee for our bikes in advance. By doing so we got a nice discount of approximately 40% vs. paying at the counter when we check in.
Cost from the US to London Heathrow $92 USD.
Paid our bike fee to the airline!!

Sounds good but not quite following this, as have always paid at time of booking for bike carriage... well in modern times. there was a time bikes flew for free.
