I want to buy a bike for a number of uses, primarily I need a bike to travel to, and from uni, along with this I will be riding trails and often riding offroad, my budget is £1500 MAX, ideally I would prefer a full suspension bike, I have added some that have taken my interest below, just wondering if I could have some advice on which you prefer, or if you could recommend me anything better.
p.s - I need at least a large frame as I am 6ft 3

I need help picking my bike
Re: I need help picking my bike
Have you space for two bikes? I wouldn't be happy to leave £1500 worth of bike in a communal bike rack.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

As a recent uni graduate (albeit mature in years!) I’d recommend getting yourself a older less valuable machine for your uni travels. Something that isn’t attractive to theives but works as it should is easily sourced. Check out your uni ‘for sale’ page - in my experience there were always people moving bikes on.
Then you can spend virtually the whole lot on a nice full susser which hopefully won’t get swiped around campus. Personally I’d chain it up to the radiator in your room with a massive padlock!

Wot they sed...
I would also say do not use a piece of valuable and nickable sports equipment as an urban hack. Aside from the security issue you'll bugger up the drive-train with winter gritting and then it won't be as good for what you got it for. If space is limited in your new digs maybe get a cheap (second hand, perhaps) folder as the hack.
An urban hack is best with a rack and/or basket to put stuff, mudguards, and zero desirability to thieves. A £1500 MTB tends not to tick these boxes. Also note that if you fit a folder with high pressure slicks they're actually quicker on the roads than an MTB with knobblies...
Pete.

Sadly, I think my compadres are correct.
Work on £300 for the bike and the remaining £1200 for locks
