Google seems to imply that it is a one way street going down only.

I used to think that I had cycled up it but I had instead ridden the "easy" way, up Twtil, that being a legal option.

We were there in Harlech a couple of weeks ago and my son and I had a walk down it.

Odd that it states unsuitable for motors but there are houses with cars on both sides of the road for the last couple of hundred feet!?

Hi,
Local to me, a beach road, chickened out on the tourer :(
40% = 22 degrees.........this is 26 degrees at an angle which makes it appear steeper, so its less than that but not much, need to measure accurately.

The issue here is the definition of "street".

We have paths hereabouts that could even be as much as 45deg, but they ain't streets.

More rubbish from the bbc :(
22% is less than 1 in 4

One would have thought this could easily be resolved :?

Not sure how much use Ffordd Penllech is if one may only cycle down it
The bit above the main road through the village* is very steep too

* Harlech: village or town?

Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

A car passed us going up the hill so I presume you can cycle up it too?Unless it's local access only for vehicles?

Can? May?
Is the sign "unsuitable for motons" advisory only?

Well as I stated above there are houses with cars on their drive maybe 200m lower down from that sign.We didn't walk all the way down so I can't comment on whether there are dwellings further down or not.
My parents live in a Farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales. There is a "not suitable for motor vehicles" on the gate as you leave the road. It's 3 miles from the road to the house...the track is Tarmac....

Ffordd Pen Llech is a one way street.
The link which I posted upthread even shows the no entry sign.

The chap in the car that passed us was either:-
a.Oblivious to this
b.A local going home who thinks it doesn't apply to him
c.Just didn't care

If one may only cycle down it does not count

Where is the steepest road one may cycle up?
