Interesting how May is trying the "we've been insulted by the EU" to ry and help her through her party conference. When I saw her "Angry Robot" speech yesterday I didn't believe what I was hearing. EU has been sawing for weeks how and why "Chequers" was a non-starter and could May have completely overlooked or ignored or not heard what they'd been saying (with reasons).

All the EU has done was announce the decision of the 27 (as per reasons already repeated many times). Yet May decided to play the "Wounded Robot" and it worked 'cos Leavers (who already rejected "Chequers") are leaping to her defence and Remainers (who also rejected "Chequers") are leaping to her defence and the EU appreciate she has a party conference to survive and that that is more important for her than the future of the UK.

Poll for The Times today puts Tories on 40% Labour on 36% with Jeremy's favourable rating falling from 86% to 63% amongst Labour voters so peak Corbyn appears to have been passed. With the recent Tory chaos in mind this is an awful situation for Labour. The old Labour Party would be streets ahead at this point. It demonstrates that the public dont approve of the left wing and anti Israeli stance of Labour.
Mrs May's outrage at Salzburg seemed rather bad tactics to me, more to do with her personal rating with her party than the negotiations.
My comment about Boris has been misunderstood, I believe he is a busted flush with the public in general who think he is a gaffe prone toff inhabiting a remote universe, totally unsuitable as a PM. Like Corbyn the majority of voters wont vote for him.

Could you point to somewhere that shows "It demonstrates that the public dont approve of the left wing and anti Israeli stance of Labour" and not that they e.g. don't like Labour's stance on Brexit or don't like Labour's policy on nationalisation, etc.

I can't say why Labour may be dropped in the polls and I get worried these days where a simple chose a or b then has people impose their personal ideology on the reasons for the outcome. But I can't find the questions asked in this poll so am interested as to how they identified it was Labour's left wing and anti Israeli stance that caused the result.

Which makes one also wonder why people (polled) are more concerned about Labour's antisemitic issues and unconcerned about the reported Conservative anti-muslim issues.

It demonstrates the influence of the established media and those who control it. Can you name any left wing policies in the Labour manifesto? Try it and I'll show you where similar policies exist under governments that are elsewhere considered mainstream centrist. The Israeli policy is largely in line with United Nations resolutions, for that to be out of step with so many other politicians is a sad reflection on them rather than Corbyn.
Back on subject - A truly left policy would be to leave the EU, it's as un-socialist as it's possible to get, entirely controlled by the financiers, just look how they stomped all over Greece's democratically elected left.

We're in a post-Trump era. I wouldn't put money on it (not mine anyway).

For the record, The Times poll was on the general public, not Times readers. I agree that the media are conducting an anti left wing, anti anti semitic campaign against Corbyn, MacDonald and Momentum. It seems to be working.

Definition of Brexit...

An Englishman, Scotsman, Welshman, and. Northern Irish person walk into a bar to order a drink

They then all leave the bar without one because the Englishman wanted to

Don't tell me you fell for that nonsense!

She's playing up to the leavers in her party, not the EU. The show is all about trying to look strong and put off any potential leadership challenge.
Claiming the EU should come back with a counter offer is nonsense, they already have. She simply said it wasn't acceptable but then didn't make any changes to ours.

Claiming the EU should come back with a counter offer is nonsense, they already have. She simply said it wasn't acceptable but then didn't make any changes to ours.

Plus, her declaration that she deserves to be told why her offer has been rejected is beyond daft. EU has been telling her/us all for ages why it's not acceptable. If she has not realised or heard their reasons then it reflects very badly on her as a negotiator (or even having any awareness of what is going on).

Plus, from day one they've been declaring "no cherry picking" and Chequers is massive "cherry picking". EU were never going to accept it and UK is just wasting time in proposing it and continuing to pursue it. And it makes no difference anyway as both Leave supporting MPs as well as Remain supporting MPs have also rejected her "Chequers".

What worries me a lot is how May continually boxes herself in leaving her no flexibility without "loss of face". She's created so many red lines there is probably no acceptable solution whatever - and those red lines have not been in the interests of the UK but in the interests of her party not slinging her out from being big white chief.

No one in my whole life asked my opinion for any poll, and I strongly suspect that goes for most other people in the country too.
Don't forget how polls can be toally misleading and wrong.

Only if you believe polls and the right wing media.
