Came across a bench mark by accident at the weekend on ilkley moor ...

No it was a bit wild. Pitched up for the night. Great views from there.

A couple of BM's I spotted on my way to JoG in 2011 the first is a button on the bridge over the Ribble at Walton Bridge just south of Preston Map ref 552287

the second is a bench mark on a cast iron plate unfortunately I can't remember the exact location other than it's on the A6 north of Kendal roughly between Leagate Map ref 541006 and Hollowgate 548032 on the way up to Shap

A benchmark on the side of the Post Office at Newburgh, Lancashire, nice to see it marked on

a turn of the 19th/20th century map, the old hand measured maps have an impressive degree of accuracy

when you compare them side to side with a modern aerial view.

The area now known as Canada has been inhabited for thousands of years, even the arctic I understand

Found one on a route I've been using regularly for a few years and never noticed before - it's not in a good place to stop but I'll endeavour to get a snapshot of it in the new year, hopefully without being mown down!

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my CLT-L09 using hovercraft full of eels.
