Six bolt adapters for centrelock hubs

I use 6 bolt wheels at the moment. The new wheels I am about to buy are centrelock, and I plan to run them with my existing 6 bolt discs on centrelock to 6 bolt adapters. Brakes are mechanical.

Anyone report problems with adapters? Like contact with the calipers?

Yes I know I could use centrelock discs.

The centrelock to 6 bolt adaptors cost more than a new front hub. Shimano M525 6 bolt disc hubs appear to be widely available for under a tenner.

Spill the beans, cheapest I've seen for a centrelock hub is about a tenner. Those cheapie ones on fleabag are for converting a standard threaded hub not a centrelock one with a serated collar.

Ah, I've been misled by the description and being unfamiliar with disc brakes until recently.

Centre lock hubs work well with 6 bolt adapters, we have them on the Circe tandem,no problems

I have thought (& I know this thinking lark can be a dangerous thing!) that if you were going to run discs for an epic tour then centrelok hubs with 6 bolt adapters might be a sensible option then you can choose either if you have to get replacement rotors in the back of beyond.

there is more than one type of centrelock converter and they may behave differently.

I use the genuine Shimano ones, ordered from Rose Bikes. Less than £10 and work perfectly with no alignment change between my regular 6 bolt wheels and those with the adaptor. 6 bolt discs are much cheaper than centrelock too

there is even more than one shimano one, eg SM-RTAD10 or SM-RTAD5

the problem you have is that Center-Lock wheels are mostly still considered as "medium-high range" so the rotors that will be fitted are going to be the expensive ones, and as such the adapters do cost some money.

I won't consider rebuilding the wheel with a new hub, it adds considerable labour costs.

It's shown as seperate in the illustration.
I've just checked on Ebay and with locking collar they're around £12 to £15,but the catch is in the Shimano description they're only to be used with resin pads.
