And now for somethig completely different- A soft helmet

Post by geomannie »

After a long hard struggle with materials, safety testing and certification, Hedkayse are to bring a soft helmet to the market https://www.hedkayse.com/ in the New Year. A helmet is a helmet but assuming that you might wear wear one, this one is intriguing. As it is soft, it does not destruct on impact and can suffer multiple impacts/drops/maltreatment with little or no degradation in the level of protection, or so the manufacturers claim. Its going to be somewhat heavy at about 450grams but for day to day use, this seems like a useful bit of kit. It also flattens to a degree which may be useful for travelling.

My only interest is that in spring 2016 I put money into Hedkayse on their Indiegogo campaign, expecting a helmet to be delivered in summer 2016. I wish. Its going to be nearly 3 years later than originally promised. I will report back when it arrives.
