title of a book

About twenty five years ago I had a cycling book written by a women who was either Canadian or American. The book was more to do with cycling as a way of life, which it is for many of us. I lent the book to someone and I never seen it again. All I can remember of the book was she and her friend had a contest running to see who would continue riding through the winter no matter how bad the weather got.
Its a long shot but do you know the title or author of the book?
