Please turn off your spellchecker...

Post by 661-Pete »

...when posting on this, or any other, forum. Please!! If you're using a fancy smartphone and don't know how - ask someone who does.

Mis-spellings and typos I can cope with: we all have finger trouble now and again after all! But the absurd substitutions which these so-called 'intelligent' spelling-checkers try to make... ! Reading a post just now, I saw "energy" which I think was a substitution for "every". Completely baffling until I sussed it...

I think it’s predictive text that is the culprit.
Spellchecker and it’s wavy red line takes me back to the old days of WordPerfect.

Think of it as a mental exercise to keep your brain active and young.

Spellchecker doesn’t help everyone though

Hi,
Like said auto complete predictive text is a bigger problem, actually try's to predict the meaning of a whole sentence, like grammar checker in ms word etc.

The OED gives the hyphen; Chambers and Websters do not. Oh well, can't satisfy everyone: I prefer to insert a hyphen because I think it makes it clearer...

I like to compound "everytime" but the spell checker (correctly) makes it two words.

I think it should be one word though, perhaps I should add it to the dictionary...

Here's another one, with spellcheck on, prediction AND Swype (finger slide input) all switched on!

The bold I ride endorsing is a vanishing caad 10. Its just about time beau bike I've Downend in a long time. Fowey is work I really little tune that it kamakura and rides into corners, Wenden though it's less resistor to obnoxious and bands Ryland a creation bike. I boycott it in 2018 but its not a brand new bike, I have its penalty from about 2002 but your episode be very poodle just to kills it out. Tyne Papworth is really nice and they're virtually not Wenden a mark on it. I've only hash to viens Tyne chain and a bottom bracket but some I got the bolts at stock a good price is not greatly much in the way of Hartshorne.

I'm very happy with it.
