Just an observation, but this event is referred to by the organisers as a ‘race’.
Any insurance you have will need to include cover for you participating in racing events, no?

Just like everyone that time trials and road races i suppose ...?
My main concern is that the company that is organising it consists of just one person, with a total share capital of £4, based in a very nice house in residential Llandudno.

Bike packing / camping ... spent an awful lot of time under polyester ... and without the support of Julie and Hattie the camper van ... i'd rather have the ability to stop when I want, or have too, without prior planning. Food from garages and fast food outlets ...

That's not for me, looks like a pretty good route, but definitely not designed by Wimps.....

So 100 miles a day with camping gear??? I just did 73 miles today and that was enough to make me think of having a day off the bike tomorrow....plus if there's a party at the end how are they going to cater for riders arriving on a verity of dates, or is it a 4 day party??? That might be interesting.....

I'm doing the shorter route of 824 miles ... probably of the maximum 14 days allowed .... possibly not a race in my case ...but an adventure.
Yes, the "Party" ... so the super triathletes are going to wait around for the old guys to turn up 7 days later .... Swiss cheese comes to mind ...
However !!! lets see as we get closer to the actual event ...

That sounds great David. Worth some research for lightweight kit and basic cook sets.
Having hot drink and basic food options makes camping so much better.
I managed 23kg loaded for the alps but reckon I could now shave around 5kg off that. There is something very nice about bikepacking where the only things that matter are riding, finding sustenance and somewhere to camp for the night.

Thanks Steve any advice you can give will be appreciated. For me it's about miles in my legs and losing the amount of mass i have to carry up hill
At the moment reducing my body mass is an imperative, especially at this time of year. I've given up alcohol, and and paying close attention to my calorie intake.
I'm planning a " little but often" approach to getting miles in over the xmas period, 20 miles each day, and probably continuing that during January and February on the road or the Turbo.
As the temperatures rise during March the long days begin.
