2019 - Twenty a day?

Post by foxyrider »

Well it's a new year and a new target as last year's 10 a day was smashed. The target for this year is 15000km (9321mi), a bit less than last year's total but a chunk more than the target!

So far so good

20 ride days avg 78km (48.5mi) & 978m (3209ft) of climbing.
Ytd it's 651m (2136ft) and 50km (31mi)
Totals 1561km (970mi) and 19569m (64203ft)

Pretty chuffed with that and i've not had to ditch any rides due to weather or illness.

How are my fellow mile munchers doing?
Convention? what's that then?

You've left me well behind!

I've already planned to do the ten a day this year, but twenty a day is too difficult. Back in the day when I was commuting, it was "easy" but these days .................

How are you in the collie-walking lists? I have done miles & miles and thrown the stick thousands of times - in a mere three weeks of Brechfa Forest walks.

Alas, I have no targets for the above as the collies would immediately regard them to be inadequate, via various demonstrations and collie-suggestions. (They do it with their eyebrows).

Cugel, also wondering who has eaten more brussel sprouts than me so far in 2019. (No I'm not). :-)

Well to be honest not terrible great so far, not been many opportunities to get out much. I've done just over 1000k; longest ride was 200km and it was a very windy Saturday - knackered springs to mind.

Last year just under 17000km, aiming for the same sort of distance really, but more elevation.

Hurry up Spring is all I can say.

I managed 10 a day in 2018 by about 20 miles. So far, 2019 is not great. I ripped a pedal out of a crank near the start of a 100km Audax, so didn't finish that, and my efforts to extend the ride home from work by a handful of miles a day are colliding with Real Life and the need to Be Places in the evenings. So 80 miles to make up already :(

Was doing fine but decided to give today's ride a miss as I was worried about ice after last night's snow. Went for a good walk on the downs instead.
Current total 970 miles.

I read the title and thought you were talking about smoking.
Are the rules to do 20 a day everyday or an average of 20 a day
if its the former I am failing miserably, if its the latter I am still behind but willing to give it go 7300 not a bad target

Whichever takes your fancy but I think most of us mile crunchers work on the average - it's a rare person who can actually get out every single day! I usually give YTD and per day ridden.

In the month of January 2019, I cycled 56 miles, or an average of 1.8 miles per day.

Sometimes, I despise myself.

Well February went pretty well for me, 15 ride days, 1492km (927mi) and 18780m (61614ft) climbing. That's 1252m (4107ft) and 99.5km (62mi) for the median day.

Year to date, 35 ride days, 3053km (1897mi) and 38349m (124817ft) so 87km (54mi) average with 1096m (3596ft).

So for the year overall it's a bit over 50km (31mi) / 650m (2133ft) - well above the target! However my focus is currently to be at a good fitness level for the 200km RTF in Germany at the end of April. Working at getting a bit of speed atm - 6 weeks to go so hopefully I can wrestle a bit more out by then!

How are the rest of you getting on? We've had some decent weather so i'm guessing i'm not the only one who made merry in February?

299.5 miles so a little over 10 a day. 20 a day was never going to happen, but it's recovered some of the losses from January.

This years challenge for me is 9500 miles though I'd like to hit 10,000 but that seems too high. A more acheivable target is to ride every day of the year, even if it's only a mile or two round the block. Currently on 61 consecutive days so far. Not quite sure how it'll work when on holiday in Barcelona but there is a hire place opposite the hotel.
