Commuted membership (5 yrs for 4)?
Commuted membership (5 yrs for 4)?
I received my new CUK membership card today and a letter saying the relevant fee would be direct debited on the appropriate date in a couple of months' time. Great. But, I thought, why not take advantage of the 5 years for the price of 4? So I had a look on the website to find out how to do this and I can't find any mention of it. I take it this is no longer available. Or was I only imagining (by comparison with AUK perhaps?) that it ever was?
Re: Commuted membership (5 yrs for 4)?
It certainly used to and is still mentioned on the membership page
if it's been left off the options, maybe give them a ring or drop them an email - I've had cause to do both in the last few months and had a reasonably quick response.
*** ANNUAL DIRECT DEBIT OFFER OF 14 MONTHS FOR 12 IS ON THE FIRST YEAR OF A NEW ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP ONLY; THIS EXCLUDES MEMBERSHIP PURCHASED AS THE 5 YEARS FOR 4 OPTION; ANNUAL DIRECT DEBIT OPTION DOES NOT APPLY TO LIFE MEMBERSHIPS OR THE 5 YEARS FOR 4 OPTIONS.

The quote above implies it is.

Yup. A life sentence is still available.
The 5-for-4 offer only seems to be available on gift membership, but it can't hurt to ask, as PH says.

"Cost" of life sentence? "Price" would be better
An interesting photo, hard to see whether the riders are wearing h****ts

The 5 year for the price of 4 is still available on the website https://shop.cyclinguk.org/membership/i ... hip-myself just select the type from the drop down
Re: Commuted membership (5 yrs for 4)?
That's only for a new membership. But the text does answer the question: "If at renewal you wish to change your membership type please contact the Membership Team on 01483 238301"

Well I phoned them yesterday, couldn't get through, after a couple of minutes got a recorded message saying leave your number and they'll get back. So far they haven't.

Assuming that's a serious question, I think it refers to the original meaning of commute = reduce. The extension of the word to daily travel to work is, AIUI, an American usage in that what we'd call a season ticket, is a commuted fare. People buying season tickets are commuters and eventually, all daily travellers became commuters, whether season ticket holders or not.
