Urethral Trauma Anyone?

Post by Edd_P »

Hi all. First post here. Just after advice, (not medical obviously), or a chat. Interested in hearing if anyone else has suffered a similar injury, and how they treated it.

On couple of mornings ago I skidded on some ice and landed on my side. The impact on my genitals was not immediately obvious, but I soon realised I was haeommoraging blood from my penis as my trousers were soon saturated with blood.

I've been to A&E and since been discharged. Every time I do a number one or two that provokes a lot of lood loss, but it soon subsides.

The worst blood loss is overnight where, (and I'm really sorry that I'm introducing myself in this way), my morning wood is causing me to leak a lot of blood.

I'm wearing my wife's Always Extra which is enabling me to go about my every day business. (Those things are AMAZING).

I'm just interested to hear if anyone else has suffered a similar injury, and whether with the benefit of hindsight they'd have done anything different with regards to treatment.

I really dont want to end up with a catheter if I can avoid it, as that can have it's own risks. Good thing is I can still pee, admittedly in some pain.

If anyone can tell me that their penis, (or Vagina!?), was in a bad place, but they've never felt better since, that would be great ☺

There is hardly a subject that has not been discussed on these fora already, try searching, you should get some replies here too soon

I don't recall anyone recounting tales of blood ouzing from unmentionable orifices, on this forum.

As such it is quite a memorable situation ( even for my failing memory ).

I wish you a speedy & complete recovery.

I mentioned it in a post on the forum some years ago, mine wasn't as bad as the OP's and was caused by slipping off the saddle onto the toptube in an 'uncontrolled' fashion after slipping on ice.
It was quite painful at the time and resulted in me passing bloody urine for over a week.

Bleeds, from wherever, can take a while to sort themselves, so if it were me I would be looking to see improvement over the course of a week, and not be too alarmed if it doesn't mend completely in the first few days. But I would be wanting to see an improving trend. As always, if in doubt get some more medical advice from professionals.

Cheers for the replies. I did try a search but maybe put in the wrong keywords.

This was not a hoax! (Would be the lamest one ever if it was).

Three nights in and last night was the first I haven't woke up in a pool of blood, so recovery seems to be going OK. Far less worried now.

In case some other poor sap finds this thread in the future... buy some Tena Ladies and save yourself a lot of mess. Wish I knew that now!

Have to say that losing so much blood from my genitals and needing to continue with my daily business has left me with a profound sense of admiration and respect for the men who invented female sanitary products. ;o)

Glad you're on the mend :)
Though what makes you think it were men who invented ladies sanitary products?

Women would've made a better job of it!

If the bleeding hasn't yet stopped, you need specialist advice. In your case it needs to be a Urologist, as the whole urinary tract from the kidneys down is their speciality....

I’m in Hospital again and I am bleeding badly. If the attached photograph offends anyone please ask for it to be removed.
I can assure that whilst I’m able to write this message, I am pretty unwell and undergoing much unpleasant and painful tests!
