Must I buy from Halfords?

Post by james01 »

Looking to buy a spare battery (36v, 11.6ah) for my wife's Carrera Crossfire in order to do an extended tour. The only supplier appears to be Halfords, £400 (although I assume my CUK discount will get that down to £360). Does anyone know of a cheaper source? Maybe an alternative make of battery which will fit? Thanks....

I think you'll find that the battery will be machine specific to fit the mountings in/on the frame- certainly the ebikes I sell in my shop are - although some models within the same brand (e.g. ebco) do share a battery model.

There is also an issue with mail order and ebike batteries as they are not supposed to be posted/couriered as just a battery as there is a significant fire risk (allegedly)* Batteries in new bikes that are courier delivered are not "activated" until the first switch on of the bike.

* but of course people do send them but don't declare the correct contents on the package.
