Team Sky is now Team INEOS

INEOS make chemicals

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ineos

They are privately held by Jim Ratcliffe

Like most rich sportsmen, he is or will be a tax exile in Monaco

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Ratcliffe

He purchased FC Lausanne-Sport, a Swiss football team. He does not seem to spent too much on them

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-laus ... verein/527

He also has a yacht team, called INEOS Team, which he bought for £110 million on an exclusive sponsorship basis in order to win the 2021 Americas Cup.

He may have some interest in cycling https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... m-10026213

And why not, how does it effect and ruin your life, as long as the money is legit who cares.
How about a South American petrol company or a political group.
At least there is a trail to show where INEOS get their money from, I assume they provide work for wages to their staff.
OR .. is there a dark conspiracy so loved of so many on this forum ...... :)

Nah, they're just not a team I support and the whitewashing of dodgy brands is part of the reason.

A dark conspiracy? Dark like the inside of a jiffybag, you mean? ;)

Best give all professional sport a wide berth if you dislike the smell. Or do you know of one that isn't tainted with with dirty money?

At least he built the company himself, not from a dodgy deal with some Russian President.

Can't I just support a more ethical team? Imperfections don't mean we shouldn't try.

Not really, unless they're only going to compete against other ethical teams, IMO the team money effects the entire sport, I don't know how a team could isolate themselves from it.

Any suggestions who though?

Orica (formerly ICI Australia IIRC) are a big mining company, I think.

At least it’s not Amgen (makers of EPO) who sponsored the Tour of California…

I don't care much who is paying the wages, most of the team's in cycling have a skeleton in the closet. But it is good to get behind British riders such as Thomas, Rowe, Froome and (previously) Wiggins. I've always thought that the Jiffy Bag scandal was a storm in a tea cup and that's not naivety I'm fully aware of pro cycling history.
