Ben Hamilton-Baillie dies

Post by The utility cyclist »

https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2019 ... e-obituary

One of the good guys who tried and succeeded to take back space (and priority) for the vulnerable road user, that we dn't adopt the principles that he took the idea from NL (and went further still with his studies) across every town and city indicates that gov at all levels simply don't give a flying one.

In my case, despite my almost obsessive checking of new posts, I'd managed to miss the original post completely. :(

I hadn't twigged that this was the guy behind the Poynton remodelling but appreciated the big improvement his work had made there. In its previous form I had only visited thd place because I needed to. Since I visited to see what the new centre was like, & been impressed, I've been back several times. His work made the town centre a place for people rather than primarily a junction for motor traffic.

A sad loss indeed.
