Finally, after a mere 6 month of tinkering, the Milan GT went on the road again last Monday.

It got a new light system, new wheels, various holes sawn into its shell, new suspension and drive train, an altered steering geometry to eliminate brake steer (it got tank steering), a small 250W hub motor to better cope with the frequent stop and go in the city, rear disk parking brake, etc.

We already did 584km last week. ;)

A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

Very nice :) Have you published any details of the motor + battery set-up? Couldn't find much on your e-trike blog :(

I didn't write-up its Pedelec assist system, yet.
Its current set-up is a stock, 250W, Bafang SWXH 26"/36V geared hub motor with 11-32t 9-speed freewheel, a Phaserunner motor controller, Cycle Analyst v3 and 36V/22Ah battery. It got a Patterson Metropolis 2-speed crank drive with shortened 143mm cranks, Shimano 105 derailleur and Teflon chain tubes.

Speedmachine with rubbish/cheapo rack top bag and salvaged mudguards.
I'm returning to twist-shifting after flirting with triggers, not bothered with the LH shifter yet as I keep the front in the middle ring.
If I had a baby elephant, I would put it on a recumbent trike so that it would become invisible.

The e-assist system is currently in some kind of flux. Close to 2,000km the little Bafang SWXH bite the dust (well, it only got shredded planetary gears) and while the even smaller Bagier CST worked rather nice, I didn't trust it for commuter duty. Hence, I've implanted a 250W version of the bigger '500W' Bafang CST (sturdier planetary gears), but either the Phaserunner controller or the Cycle Analyst doesn't play ball at the moment.
Quite annoying, but the commute on congested streets to my new job calls for using the trike* anyway. The Milan doesn't really feel at home on the cycle path, but its the only way to prevent getting stuck in traffic. (I might have to change jobs again... :twisted:)

Not used drum brakes before and happy with mechanical disc brakes, plus they look better.
