Crossfire Ebike Tubeless Tyre

Post by Capt_Mike »

Thinking of the difficulty in repairing a rear wheel puncture on this bike, is it sensible or indeed feasible to fit a tubeless tyre on the standard rim of the Crossfire?

I doubt the rims are Tl ready so probably not a good idea and a tyre might burp off the rim.

On the rear a good option is to use a Gaadi tube (these are double ended), I use one on my rear hub bike and also carry a spare and find them excellant. No need to remove wheel, just the need to remove tyre bead on one side and then refit.

The Gaadi ends are quite thick/ reinforced for strength I guess , when fitted you may feel a slight lumpy section where the tube ends meet when riding otherwise they are a great idea for rear hug motor wheel. Price wise quite expensive but I have no issue paying for a pair and the ease of replacing or patching tube. Only one puncture in < 2 years of use and that was a tack nail picked up on the ' Downs Link'.

Thanks for that. I think that the convenience will outweigh the additional expense

The Gadii look good, but make sure you don't order one too large. They seem a lot fatter than they might for the nominal size.

I just ordered the size as per that marked on the tire sidewall. Will that be OK?

Yes the logical thing to do,order the appropriate size that matches your tyre size as a with a normal tube.
I use 700c and ordered so, no issues with usage or fitting. They mainly use a Presta valve but believe Schrader may be availbale.

My cycle pump is Schrader to simpy over come the valve difference I carry a brass schrader/presta valve adapter for pumping and use them on other bikes with Presta. I prefer to use them as they also protect the valve from accidental damage/bending.
