What has happened to Herne Hill Cycle Jumble?

Post by carlislemike »

What has happened at Herne Hill Velodrome Cycle Jumble? Usually it is flagged up as contact Wally Happy but this year, that byline has gone from the Bike Jumbles website? I have done my less than regular shed clearance and once again want to give the stuff worth selling, to Wally and his HHV charity stall but this year, I'm not sure if he's about. Any clues? Mike

They've got an event coming up, but it looks like they are trying something a bit different. http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/velofete/

Yes, I have their poster. The usual first Saturday of the month events are still scheduled but conspicuous by absence of Wally‘s name. As a minor matter of interest, the HH committee responsible for this newer event, canvassed the local bike shops a tad later than bike shops need to respond and prepare. I have this from an inside source at on of the LBS!

And finally, the answer from Wally himself. He decided to retire from the scene last year, at 86. Chapeau to a great HHV character.
