If my memory is correct you were the first of the group to get a puncture too

Yeah I knew I should have changed that tyre but it’s very hard to make decisions that go against a lifetime of having to make ends meet. I’m am fighting it though and can now take double the amount I used to out of atm machines. They stopped doing fivers. :D

My problem is getting money out of my pockets

We still need a driver for the "Support Phase" ..... Whitehaven to somewhere in Geordie Land ..... I'll be doing pickups and drop offs before and after the event but can"t drive during ...

It was Mick that persuaded the main bulk of the group to take the easy option, Its his fault
Yes.
Some folk want to go over the hills to join the B3181 (Old A38) through Culompton.
The easy way is on the flat into Tiverton.

Trust me Mick we did not want to go over the hills .... at all :)
But by that time you and the fast team had disappeared over the horizon ....
But your company was very welcome ....

My memory is Mick and company left the site before some of us were ready.
We caught them up at a cafe and by the time we were served they had disappeared.
A very disappointing experience from my point of view

I think I realised on day 2 that 2 groups would form....fast and slow. Personally I loved the slow group as we did have some fantastic experiences. I know that staying together was the idea but I think the 2 group split did work well.

What made it even better is that as the youngest in our group I got to chat to some very experienced riders which was definitely beneficial to me. Ken and Swoop talking about their club, Paul chatting about Audax riding, Alasdair and David talking about their rides, a fantastic mix of cycling stories.

We should have stayed together ... "It's just like that, it's just the way it is." comes to mind .....
Personally, I believe we lost one because of that split ... possibly 2... :(
But the split was a soft event ... It was inevitable ... and foreseeable ..
But the ride, it was still a life affirming experience .....
Certainly in my top 10 life experiences ....
So looking forward to the CtC ..... :D

And the great company .....All the WIMPS, riders and non riders were a joy to be with.

For Jules, myself and Riley it was a watershed experience ....
Jules and I now have 3 young children, Riley is with his "forever family" ..

SO ....
Maybe top 5 .................. :)

Me and Mick realising that some had not left with the bulk of the team at the start, a few miles down the road, turned around to go back and find them.
I know that we didn't find the two late starters but met landsurfer and another going forward to catch the main group, something like that.
At the café it was apparent that there were now at least three groups, me and mick left with several riders.
The pacer which was Flash was always in front for main part of ride, me and mick were just trying to keep up :)
At the supermarket resting after the café, there must have been most of the riders apart from Landsurfer and another, which I did not see again that day.

Some of the confusion was because the route was modified probably more than once, blame the navigator :)

That Lady certainly was an inspiration.
I’ve met and talked with three JOGLE walkers this year so far and I always mention the lady in the cafe. :D
