"Curmudgeon" is one of my favourite words, realised this when someone on these fora suggested I might be one

I'm happy to call myself a Curmudgeon. Not so happy when others call me that, no matter how true.

Does that change of it's being said by someone who is a curmudgeon and knows it? :)

What you say is what you are? Or what you say is NOT what you are, what one claims about oneself?

I proudly claim to be a curmudgeon, does that mean I am not one?

You - a curmudgeon!? Pah!

A proper curmudgeon wouldn't bother telling anyone as each and every post would drip with mudgeon. Interlocutors would all be going red - then purple then white. They would post explosive replies containing amusing but dangerous suggestions concerning actions you could take with yourself.

Bans and deletions of your cur-spouts would be a constant hazard. Many would call for your expulsion or reprimand. Others would respond with posts far beyond mere curmudgeonry. You would receive shoals of PMs containing wild promises of revenge or comeuppance.

You would have a stick which you employ to beat small children who are noisy (or just there) and also to bang on shop-counters when the assistants fail to assist, which is always since no amount of assistance will please you. You would have a range of snarl and sneer noises, applied willy-nilly as you go about.

In fact, you seem quite nice. :-)

There are some about this place who could serve you as exemplars, should you have a serious ambition to be a curmudgeon. They are a bit pallid and often more Duchess of Pout, as curmudgeons go, but have the right general attitude.

Cugel, giving a curmudgeon lesson.

There are a lot of terms one does not bother thinking about or explaining, 'yellow roads' for example, or 'OS GR'

Motard, moturd, morton, motron
All of these and more are used on these fora

An alternative might be ND, Normal Driver
Signifies a member of the majority who break the laws but might be more acceptable to members of the bad, british association of drivers, which I think has some representatives on here :?
