So best nice route from tavistock to Hartland along the border, doing it twice remember both ways.

Will do cycle trail from plym to tav.

Mick?

I'd continue North along NCN27 as far as Bideford then hang a left. The trail is on roads from Okehampton to East Yarde and a bit lumpy, but no real probs. Once at East Yarde, it's basically downhill to Bideford.

I've never had to pay on a bicycle (4 times now in the last 10-15 years) or at least never 'been asked to pay'!

I once got away with it driving a minibus when the toller (correct word?) asked who we were and what we were doing...then said "go on lads!"

Hi,
So went out for a ride today, With all the gear on, why is the bike so heavy, 18 kg with no bottles :?
First off the wireless Speedo doesn't like satnav.
Before I'd gone few hundred yards the handlebar extender Which holds the front light satnav and speedo dropped onto the handlebar bag.
The top frame bag doesn't quite collide with my bits But at 3 inches wide Rubs my thighs whilst standing.
Rollup handlebar bag contains all the camping stuff, with bag comes out at just 1.5 kg.
All the weight is contained in the triangular frame bike, Tools et cetera.
Tail bag only had waterproof jacket and spare clothes.

To describe the ride today I can do with one word excruciating!
I didn't help but I lost 2 kg in bodyweight, ride was 100 miles along the coast towards Sidmouth.

I ache all over and when I got home I had to lie down on the floor to recover.
I am now questioning my fitness And lack of.

With lack of weight in the front and rear bags, or a plus note the bike handles like a dream.

Aching all over, sleeping in a bus shelter for 3 1/2 hours a night and drinking from streams. You certainly know how to have a good time.

Should of been a clear sign.
I won't bore you with excuses and moaning details I abandoned yesterday after just 50 miles :(
If someone who can do 170 miles in 12.5 hrs and 250 in a day unsupported, cant maintain 15 mph on a flat surface without aching legs, there's a problem.......
whether medication or more serious I don't know.

Fed up, and thanks for all your advice on local knowledge on routes.

Sorry to hear that things didn't go as planned but it's sensible to listen to your body.

Hi,
It would be easy for me to be fed up and depressed.
But i have been there several times over the last twenty years :(
I gave up cycling for ten years because of the bad effects of meds, been on multi meds for over 35 years.
Started cycling again in 2009.
Changed meds several timed over the last year or so to get off another bad med.
all this stuff if you want effective meds all have bad effects on exercise.

I know the signs well, the feelings anyway.
But I cannot stop cycling because lack of exercise will affect the circulation on my lower right leg hastening it's possible loss.

Grin and beat it :P

No spleen has a propensity to blood clotting.
But I have never been told that by any one let alone a medical person, I should of been on meds to combat this.
Mmmmm ok so i was but maybe it was not impressed on me that i was at high risk to this developing.

Where will you be on Thursday? I have a day off if you want company to pass the hours and distract you from the riding. I live about 5miles east of St. Austell.

Hi,
I will still be doing the route I posted further up.
I'll be trying to do at least 100 miles a day.
That might be hard in my present condition.
Each map I posted is 100 miles.
So Thursday I will hope to be in lands end.
I will update regularly on here so you can see where I am.
It will be nice to see anyone en route :D

So thurs polpero to lands end.
