I would hazard a guess that you are not r-e-a-l-l-y *that* interested in the news, Mr Kwackers?

I've recently (very recently) taken to learning French and errm, need to watch French news programs to get used to the lingo.
Plus, the news these days is so dire that anything that can make it more bearable is a help.
And finally, I thought we needed new blood after the Felicity, Cherie and chocolate covered man threads.
