Vintage Bicycle Advertisements; good, bad. ugly...

Post by Brucey »

the interweb is now littered with reproductions of vintage bicycle adverts. Back when I was a student I bought (in 'Athena' I think) a couple of posters which folk might have seen; a very Victorian looking Howe bicycle/tricycle advertisement and one (in a charming art nouveau style) for American Crescent bicycles. I would have bought more at the time but they were difficult to get hold of. Now there is a huge choice.

This thread is for folk to post vintage cycle ads which they find interesting; here's a few to get you going

I bought those two as well, block-mounted, as a student around 1979. I continued to display them at home for decades.

the other one I had as an Athena poster; you can even get this one as (amongst other things) a postcard, a serving tray and 1000 piece jigsaw now

best remembered now not for bicycles that appeal to dogs and lissom lasses in bias-cut fashion wear, but for a cunning scheme that locates the rear axle in motor cars
