I had my headset bearings out, as I was doing a full service on the bike, however I seem to have misplaced the headset compression ring for the bearing. I have been looking for this for over a week, and it seems likely that my partner mistakenly threw it away. With this in mind where do I find a new one? My headset says Modus H500XX and it is a 1 1/8" diameter tube.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
where to order headset compression ring for bearing?
Re: where to order headset compression ring for bearing?
there's a compression ring listed here
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/headsets-spares/?page=3
but it'll only work if the taper matches correctly, and the height is correct too.
cheers

Thanks for the link, but I don't think I was completely clear. My bearings already have a main compression ring, but there was an extra little shim. Without the shim, it seems it does not tighten properly. This is what I currently have:

This is my headset bearing set. Does it show the part that you say is missing?
It may be you will have to buy a complete new kit but then at least you will have spare new bearings for future use.

You'll never know if you don't try it.

That seems a bit extreme, can't you just accept an apology and move on?

I seem to have a difference configuration. This is the order of things:
1) Everything together
2) The two metal parts shown in my previous post
3) A rubber seal
4) metal cup
5) bearings
Here are a few pictures with measures by the side:
Given the dimensions shown in the pictures above, any idea what kit I could buy that would fit my frame race that is currently on there?
