'Select '( that might be what Al means by copy?) then choose a font colour. Whatever you have selected takes that colour.

If I don’t colour it or background it, then it looks like I have written it.

Often good to quote selectively, use.. to show where text was removed

The "quote" function automatically changes the background colour. As Cyril Haearn says you can edit to select part(s) of the text rather than the whole post.

Amending the text colour to hi-vis is optional and often unhelpful

Please to consider 'color-blind' people
I couldnae read some of the examples easily, the yellow one not at all

Best not to change others texts by bolding, italicing, either. Abbreviating cutting.. is good as most fora members write too long texts :?

'spoiler'?

Post by 661-Pete »

On a related topic, wouldn't it be useful to have a "spoiler" feature? I believe some forum 'engines' support it, I don't know about phpbb. This is where part of your post is invisible until you click on it, or on a 'reveal' button.

Of course making the text colour white-on-white or pale-blue-on-pale-blue achieves the same result, but it's more clumsy.

Incidentally, if you want to make text invisible on this forum (until selected), you should set it to one or other of the following colours:

Code: Select all

Use this colour setting if the post will appear on a darker panel
Use this colour setting if the post will appear on a lighter panel

Copy and paste the above without the "code" tags to see what I mean.

Note: this works fine on my computer. It may work differently on smartphones?
