I have no doubt at all that the VAT rules are full of anomalies, and i don't intend to defend the tax system. But food - as in proper food, not luxuries - is not taxed, which was the claim.

I have no doubt at all that the VAT rules are full of anomalies, and i don't intend to defend the tax system. But food - as in proper food, not luxuries - is not taxed, which was the claim.

It does make an interesting walk round Costco, or similar, where VAT statutes are clearly marked on products.
