There weren't meant to be any final nails, it was all sunny uplands!
Seems to me we've had so many "final nails" over the past couple of years you'd have thought we could have kept a steel factory in business making them.

And of course, unlike global steel competition and Trump's trade war, Brexit is self inflicted.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?
You'd have hoped that after Jo Cox's murder that MPs would be a bit more careful about the language they use and the inferences they make. So language like "collaboration" seems rather inappropriate (particularly from the Prime Minister).
A Conservative MP has accused Boris Johnson of putting his life at risk because his “tub-thumping populism” over Brexit has triggered death threats against him.
In an extraordinary criticism, Dominic Grieve said the prime minister was “behaving like a demagogue” – arguing it led directly to “vile” and menacing messages from members of the public.
Another example of Boris not thinking things through?
Bojo disgusts me. He has brought this country closer to civil war than any time since 1651.

Owen Jones's only 'crime' is that of being a confirmed left-winger and anti-Brexit journalist. Are all others who speak out going to get the same treament?

This is reminiscent of Thirties Germany.

I'm not sure that Jones should be described as simply an 'anti-Brexit journalist'. He has spent a lot of time arguing that the referendum should be respected - and provoked a lot of remainy criticism for his trouble. If it was a targeted attack, it could have been for his sexuality, his politics, or for the newspaper that employs him.
It's likely the perpetrators couldn't articulate exactly what they find offensive about him - at least if they are anything like the group who targeted the socialist bookshop. In that case, they filmed themselves struggling to comprehend the titles in stock and thinking of how the contents might be disgusting (displaying a worrying obsession with paedophilia). The world must be a bewildering place for them.

Johnson has form for conspiracy against journalists.
