unrelated to the tubing manufacturer, R.E.W. Reynolds was founded in 1921 and sold steel frames for some years. The company still exists and makes cycle shoes.
Newish for this time was the horizontal (rather than upsloping) top tube; this allowed a lower riding position for racing. Check out the size of that gear! The chainring is enormous and the sprocket is tiny; its got to be about 100" or more...
Emile Friol was world sprint champion in 1907 (using a Peugeot) and in 1910 he was both French and World champion. E Georget was French road champion in 1910, so this ad must date from 1910-1911. Friol reputedly had an amazing turn of speed, even by modern standards, I think using smaller gears than his contemporaries, hence I assume his nickname 'le petit braquet'. Both were born in 1881; Georget lived to a ripe old age and passed away in 1960. Friol was however part of the 'lost generation' and died in 1916.
"La Société Parisienne de constructions Velo" was founded in 1876 and in 1891 was listed in a trade directory as 'France's oldest cycle manufacturer'; older makers such as Michaux having gone to the wall some twenty years earlier. Soc Parisienne may have been amongst the first to offer bicycles on the Avenue de la Grande Armee, and thereafter it may have become a 'cluster' of bicycle manufacturers. They lasted until 1903, having diversified into voiturettes/motor cars which were sold under many brand names.

Yes, but look how flat it was around there.
She’d struggle to ride it in that frock!
Brucey, is the Reynolds of Northampton above anything to do with Reynolds tubes?
