Things you have done.

Post by Tinpotflowers »

I see there is a thread called Things you have never done

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=79593

But that is negative I suggest we start a thread called Things you have done.

I start

I have:

Abseiled off a very small mountain
Arrested in communist country
Been to 10 and 11 Downing Street for a meeting
Broken my spine
Completed the first London marathon
Earn a silver blade certificate for ice skating
Meet Ken Livingstone and Tony Benn
Repair a broken chain in the snow with a pair pliers

Topper
An annoying person who responds to hearing someone else’s experience or problem by immediately telling a similar story about themselves with a much more fantastic outcome. They've done everything you have, only more often... and better than you.

This could be on a feedback loop with the other thread.

You post what you have done. I can either say that I have done it too, or I can post in the other thread, with a link, saying that I haven't done it. Similarly, when you post what you haven't done, in the other thread, I can either report that I, too, haven't done it, or I might post the link in this thread, saying that I have.

It could get very noisy - Like The Who (who, I'm told, I have seen).

Actually cheating :P
Platelet counts are raised after a splenectomy, as platelets are now not pooled and removed from the blood by the spleen.
I developed thrombosis soon after in right leg, which is now back to haunt me in the form of bad circulation.
Pre splenectomy I was a sub aqua diver but mainly never used a bottle (amateur) and could hold my breath easily over two minutes.
Although normal platelet count resumes in weeks or months, I have just read a paper on a male who had his spleen removed 38 years ago and suffered a stroke as partly because he has no spleen, mine was 37 years ago.

Perhaps we need an 'old blokes who should know better' angle.

Welded the bottom piece of metal to the bench rather than the top and bottom bits together.
Headed a cricket ball, intentionally.
I could go on......
