Homeless

Post by NATURAL ANKLING »

Hi,
On my short tour lately :P
I sheltered out of the wind, sun was shining but on the coast near a beach.
In a shelter to have a bite to eat.

Guy sitting on floor about 25-30, struck up a conversation and we talked for a while.
We had a lot in common both on our own me with no planned accommodation :)

He said he had been homeless off and on most of his life.
He is now resigned to be homeless is what he said.
I had stopped long enough and made my move, before I left I shared some of my food with him.

He did not come across as homeless, but what do I know.
He was off later to get down on St Micheal's Mount.

I have thought what it would be like, hell probably.
Could I survive.

Probably different levels of homeless.

One of those ex SAS guys who made a second career on reality TV (iirc the one where people try to prove they're tough enough for the SAS) made a documentary about that. Basically he lived as a homeless man for a period of time. I kept flicking channels so didn't watch it but he seemed to travel around the country without help and no money. One passing Channel flick he was in London, next in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Other cities too.

I didn't really watch it but I did see him say that it was one of the hardest times of his life. If someone like him said that then I seriously doubt I'd survive it that well. I doubt I'm as tough as a career SAS soldier somehow.
