Technically it does get easier. Running late this evening and yesterday I was pushing a couple gears higher than usual - yes, much faster (especially when you can coast at speed, unlike on my fixed df).
If I had a baby elephant, I would put it on a recumbent trike so that it would become invisible.

So, continuing my autobiographical posting: off the df due to injury so used the sm to commute for the last three weeks, which was enough to build up a couple gears more power in the legs (approx 100 miles). Getting back on the df felt all wrong, too high and precarious, but it took me all of three days to get back to the swing of things.
At the start of the year I wasn’t sure whether n+1 would be a custom fixed or a cyclocross style bike in cf. I now know that n+1 will be a highracer.
