Brompton 3 speed shifter.

Post by tempsperdu »

Can anyone point me at an exploded diagram of a 3 speed gear shifter fitted to a Brompton please? It is a 2017 3 speed single lever with bell and brake lever on a single mount.
It has started to stick in position of gear selected rather than return to rest position. Happy to take it apart but would like to get a sight of what it is like inside before hand.

the first thing I would check is that the cable is not draggy, and that it is definitely the shifter which is at fault.

cheers

Have you tried spraying some oil or white grease into it? That freed up my older shifter.

Yup, been there too. Lube is pretty easy_ I started with WD-40 to loosen then did a disassembly and lube with a synthetic product. Cannot remember which one (I have several) ... The lever was fine in my case.
