Ninety spokes will make an 8" chef's knife.

Can one construct a planer-thicknesser from a few more, say 1567? Perhaps it's possible to transform a large sheaf of the right kind into a steel bike frame even better than a 531 'un?

On the other hand, it's quicker to go to the shop. But will there be any shops in BoJoklownland?

If there aren't any shops, we have all sorts of issues, but why make a knife like that at all?

We have very nice pair of VERY SHARP Vitorinox kitchen knives. Excellent knives, and bought from an excellent knife shop.

Am I the only one that's disappointed that hasn't got a bunch of other stuff built into the handle?

Here's another pointless operation.

It's a blacksmith's vice for goodness sake!
It's supposed to be bashed and hammered. All it needed was some oil!

It's the individual's perception of anything, some would see your Mercian and Moulton as 'just bikes' however they're more than that to you

The Fibrox handled ones are about the best pound-for-pound knives on the market. I'm still using one of their predecessors, plus some others, more and less exotic, iyswim.

5 mins with a wire brush, a tin of Hammerite and some oil and that would be sorted to a similar standard :)

BTW re the OP, we need Brucey to do the metallurgy bit to tell us if in any way the exercise was worthwhile in terms of a functional knife that would hold an edge.
