Re: A positive thread
At last the weather is getting better for cycling, cool and drizzly
Got up early to cycle to church Sunday, had to eat most of my sandwiches on the way home
Hoping to do a metric century soon

No, unfortunately, but I do come from the Top of Wales, forgot to mention, the rain rather resembled sleet, even slushy snow

Is that the top as in the top of the map (ie north, or possibly east), the highest elevation (Snowdon), or the capital? (Not trying to imply that everyone in Cardiff is high, of course. )
Everyone's ghast should get a good flabbering now and then.

The top on the map of course, the top is usually best, of Scotland, Germany, but Australia?

Certainly true of Scotland and Cornwall, I suppose it makes sense to extrapolate it to other countries.

England does have a most excellent North, but with ancestry firmly in the Deep South I couldn't possibly comment further.

The Grauniad reports that a pub in Ambridgeshire organised a Nigel Party, hundreds of Nigels attended
In 2016 not a single baby was christened Nigel in the UK, last year there were 20
Sadly no Nigellas attended the party
There were hordes of Nigels around when I was at school, XTC even released a song, 'Making Plans for Nigel'

3 good things on the Isle of Wight:-
1) seeing the staff at Morrisons present a large bunch of flowers to a gentleman who's wife was taken away by ambulance;
2) being given very adequate passing room and respect by all of the motorists who overtook me whilst cycling to and from the supermarket from our camp site;
3) watching a juvenile sea eagle fly over us this afternoon.

6 mile hill walk today. Saw two feral goats only 30 feet away. 35mph wind on the top.
Home again thoroughly invigorated.

If the wind had been in the right direction then I’m sure you’d have smelt them before 30 feet.

I was in a queue at the food store waiting to pay
The customer in front tried to pay by card, but the machine refused
I could sense him getting nervous, so I thought quickly
..
'Obviously there is too much money in your account!' I quipped
The cashier chortled, the customer laughed and paid cash
