Al, you are quite correct about a fair percentage of the Lotus Eaters from Albion, they set up little Britain Enclaves, avoid both learning the language & meeting the natives! I say this from sure knowledge because my brother is on of the ilk. But at least he & his wife have taken out Spanish citizenship, although the still belly-ache about prescription costs in their bolt hole.
Not ll who take the escape route for sun & sangria are polyglots, some barely understand the English language let alone Catalan?
But all choices in life can have negative as well as positive consequences, just like those "Get Rich Quick" schemes that so many put their pension pots into, but then they expect the general tax payer to bail them out? Would they have given money to the Exchequer if they had hit the mother load???
So why should rats who have left what they believe to be a sinking ship have any say in where the Captain is taking the ship, I'm too busy bailing to listen to them.

Living abroad is so much more than "cheap plonk and bit more sunshine"
for a great many broadminded and intelligent people.

Well, not most of the ones I have met, brains addled by too much red wine, skin cancer and liver disease seems to be the main afflictions.

As opposed to cider addled home counties ex pats living in Devon. The difference appears to be the wine still leaves people with an open mind.

They weren't people I socialise with, just typical of the many wino euro expats I have met.

I don't imagine that Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson will hold to that promise (does it count as a promise?) any more than he'd stick to any other promise he's ever made.

What happens after we leave with a deal?

What happens after we leave without a deal?

What are the next steps after either case scenario?


With the economy set to take 5 to 10% hit in either case senario,how does government expect to spent more money on the NHS,Police and schools?

How does the UK as a small country plan to negotiate on a level playing field with much bigger economies,such as the USA,China or the EU,what bargaining powers do we have?

I am genuinely interested in what you think happens next

If his wedding vows were delivered in anything like the some tone with which he makes commitments at the dispatch box, it's a wonder the bride didn't run out of the church there and then.

I was shocked to arrive at a Brit b&b place near Fleurance on Bastile Day and discover our hosts werent going to go into town and enjoy joining in the celebrations? We did. The next morning then having to accompany them to the Bricolage to translate! Lived in France for years yet totally isolated in a little Brit bubble. Wine boxes abounded... We often stayed at various friends French bolt holes and observed the same sort of behaviour. Sorry, cant feel sympathy for such folk.
