One of my Bontrager SPuD shoes has cracked a sole after less than a couple of years which I find deeply underwhelming, so I'll be looking for something else. I'm after a moderately "normal" shoe, preferably lace-up and something I can walk around in a bit (e.g., I park the cargo bike and walk around the supermarket filling up a crate, I'm not going hiking in them). Weight not really an issue, shoes rather than boots/mids. They do occasionally do MTB but more touring, I don't want super-stiff performance.
I see Spesh Tahoes are available in bargain bins at the moment and am wondering what anyone thinks of the current model: please share!
I had a pair of Speshes years ago back before they did the BG thing and the basic fit was okay (i.e., my wide forefeet went okay in them which they don't with Shimanos). I'm aware the proof of the pudding is in the fit and I may well have to send them back, however good they are on paper.
Pete.

Bought someTahoes from deliquium of this parish recently. Very happy with the wide fit and comfort, too soon to test the longevity.
Based on that I picked another pair up on ebay recently, clearly a different year but same wide fit. I doubt that either pair are current.

Very comfortable for all day wear on and off the bike, last for ever. Can't fault them!

I’m on my 5th pair of Tahoes now, three different revisions but always been comfy and durable. Not great for hard and fast riding as not really stiff enough and a bit weighty, but as all day touring or general ‘out and about’ bike shoes I’ve not found anything better.

Thanks folks, that's good enough to risk posting a pair back at the current prices!

I've ordered some Tahoes at half price, but if they don't work out that's another wide flavour for the audition list, so thanks for the tip.

I’m on my second pair of Tahoes in about 9 years. I had a pair of a Sonomas before that. Great shoes, I ride them with toe clips so can’t comment on the SPD element of them. Plenty stiff enough but comfortable for walking too.

Just to counter point all the ones saying how wonderful they are. I hated them when I had a pair , that's not to dis Specialized Taho, they didn't work for me too flexible. Everyone is different and what is good for one is not good for another when it comes to shoes.
