I've ridden the orange section on the map below twice around this time last year. Mostly unmade byway/bridleway standard of path some of it with added gravelly bits. I don't recall much deep mud or rutting, certainly a few tree roots and a couple of kissing gates for livestock control. Happy enough riding it on a tourer shod with 32mm.

Thanks for that gaz. It's a more direct route than the one I had planned, I may well give it a go next time I'm down that way.

There was a guy coming off that section on a road bike (with 28mm or bigger tyres) when I passed the junction. The road looked pretty mucky but there had been a lot of rain the previous week.
