48v 250w motor
Hi, I have two 48v batteries and I'm looking for Street legal convention kit.
I prefer mid drive since I have experience with bbs02b.
Perfectly I would go for bbs01 but unfortunately its 36v.
Can you recommend mi any alternatives?

BMS Battery list a 48V option for this motor.

Don't know anything about it but judging by the model number it is probably made by Qute.

not herd of them, but i think theres little out there on 48v 250w mid drives, shame.
big Bafang fan lol

If you buy the right TSDZ2, you can have 52V.
Less current, same power, cooler running

Re: 48v 250w motor
Thanks for all responses!
@velorog thanks for that but there is a very little info about that kit so I rather pass.
@billym444
Tdsz2 isn't bad option but I do not really want a motor with torque sensor because I want to ride as much effortless as possible but still need to keep it street legal so I won't use a throttle.
@CXRAndy I already have 2 48v batteries so it would not have much sense.
Can you recommend me alternatives as rear hub drive units with the same specification 250w 48v?

Re: 48v 250w motor
The Bafang do 48V but its not 250W. Its the BBS02.
Re: 48v 250w motor
BBS clone by Aikema AKM 250w 48v mid drive, it has a 1:38 gearing ratio so should be easier to pedal unassisted if need be and outputs abut 576w, controller is 12a.
Re: 48v 250w motor
so little of subject. so if you have a 250w that can put out 576w then is it still uk road legal.
im also a tad shocked that bafang have not brought out a 250w 48v yet.
now i cant remeber its name. and modle and if some one please remind me, but bafang to have the high power 250w witch is a rebadge 500w but thats only 36v i believe.
good solution, get a knacked 250w motor, strip it out, buy a 48v bafang 350 and swap the guts over lol

Re: 48v 250w motor
Yes, it seems to be just the nominal power rating that matters. Pretty much all 250w motors can put out 400w to 500w; but not over extended period..billym444 wrote:so little of subject. so if you have a 250w that can put out 576w then is it still uk road legal.
Re: 48v 250w motor
As long as the motor is marked by the manufacturer as 250w it is legal, run continuously for an hour it shouldn't over heat (unsure of the temp used), a higher rated wattage motor under the same circumstances would run inefficiently and should heat up more.
All 250w motors are capable of more watts output but will suffer if continually run at higher wattage.
The Bafang 36v 250w BBS01 had a 25a controller and was sold as the ET model, it was capable of about 700w max power.

My calculation was wrong as I forgot to add in the effect of inefficiency, motor output would be about 450w max.

Re: 48v 250w motor
Thank you all for advices. I bought tdsz2 250w 48v.
Re: 48v 250w motor
Where did you buy it from?
That is going to be my first ever Ebike conversation, after lots of research I think TSDZ2 is good option. Any thoughts??
