Over in the EU, Flixbus has found hauling folk's bikes along makes money.

Thanks for that, I'm in the area later this year, I might just use it for the experience.
I've used Flixbus, though they're more a coach company than regular bus.

So far only between Edinburgh and Berwick. The train is less than half the time and often cheaper. But the trains are difficult.

the idea of Bike racks on the front of buses was rejected in the UK on safety grounds, if you do a search there was a thread about it not so long ago.

Why?

I was over in Vancouver in the autumn & every bus (& there are huge numbers of them, mostly electric buses running off overhead wires) there has a rack similar to the ones in LittleGreyCat's link. They are well used. Here's my bike on the front of one (previously posted here).



They even have a practice one fixed to the wall outside least one of the Skytrain stations, with instructions, so you can get the hang of it before you have to try it with a bus full of people waiting for you to fix your bike on so they can get going.

Absolutely. I am delighted. Berwick is in the Sustrans route 1 so will be very useful.

Why?

With use of the search facility (Top RH corner) and some appropriate words - bike racks buses - it took seconds to locate the aforementioned thread, though it is a bit older than I thought
