Rose joint vs CarryFreedom Lollypop elastomer?

Post by SA_SA_SA »

The 'Trailabout' trailer uses several rose joints to make a hitch and this made me wonder if anyone had tried replacing their CarryFreedom orange Lollipop elastomer with a rose-joint or built a similar hitch to the Carryfreedom but using a rose-joint(s) in place of the elasomer?

The trouble is that rose joints aren't designed to come apart.
So you still need someway to unhitch your trailer from your bike even if you use one.
The closest hitch to a rose joint I know about is the ball and socket joint from Radical Design.

my thinking was the rose hitch would fit over the cf hitch cylinder in same way as the lollipop....I am unsure whether some extra rotation axis is needed thought or if one joint has enough...

Been thinking on this.

With only one rose joint, you'd be fine turning corners and probably while going over bumps.
But there's not enough freedom to cope with the bike falling over while attached to the trailer.
