However to tell if an XT shifter is 9 or 10 speed

Post by steve.y.griffith »

I have pair of XT shifters which came to me labelled as 9 speed however I think they may be 10 . One is marked M770 the other M780
Any idea what speed I have ?

SL-M770 is a 9s shifter.
SL-M780 is a 10s 'dynasys' shifter.

The rear shifters will pull different amounts of cable per click; 9s about 2.5mm/click, and 10s dynasys about 3.4mm/click

cheers

You can also count the clicks!

8 clicks = 9 speed, 9 clicks = 10 speed!
