Who should we be boycotting?

If you use table service you get an receipt emailed to you. You can request a receipt at the bar if that's your sort of thing though!

A number of retailers want to email receipts now (Mountain Warehouse, WH Smith for example). I don't see why I should share my email address and be inundated with special offers.

Argos ask if I wish an e-mail receipt. For expensive items I say yes. A check of my e-mail shows zero Argos spam and a list of receipts and order confirmations. If any of the expensive items prove faulty I can get the receipt easily without needing to file paper receipts. Seems an advantage to me.

Is e-mail spam really still a big issue anymore? Dealing with reputable companies there is a choice of whether you want marketing e-mails and unsubscribing is easy.

Yes for big value items always get a receipt but for a £2.19 pint of Abbot ale I couldn't be bothered.
I check my current account most days on my phone and I keep my bank statements for a couple of years.I know to the nearest pound how much I've got. What's the point of writing everything down.....one day it'll all be thrown away!! Chucker outer me, I can't be doing with collecting tat!

I agree - I used to have reams of paper receipts in files. What a pain. Now it's in gmail and easily searchable, even if I haven't bothered to tag it in a Folder.

Not really I just think that if you quote someone you shouldn't alter what they say, particularly when the alteration is factually incorrect.

Sky lanterns or Chinese lanterns should definitely be boycotted, they caused a fire near Tewkesbury, 80 caravans were destroyed, and a fire at a zoo in Krefeld Germany, many innocent animals perished

Manufacturers of them tried to encourage their use to thank NHS workers! No no no!!!!

She is my MP and her constituency does not extend as far as Droitwich. She has campaigned for a ban on the lanterns and I hope she succeeds.

In some ways I think that supporting companies which have a philosophy or product that you like is more positive. However, some organisations really get my goat and are on my personal banned list:

Weatherspoons
Dyson
Sports Direct
Richmond Hyundai/MG Southampton

And a few others. Amazon is an avoid wherever possible. Whenever I can I try to use local/specialist companies rather than the chains.

The bloke in charge is keen on Brexit. And some folk like to mix politics with eatery choice. Which is up to them, I suppose. Personally, so long as he isn't a neo-Nazi ( and he isn't) I couldn't care less about his politics, so long as he treats his staff okay and the food is palatable.

Yes - I know that the 'Spoons man is a supporter of brexit, which doesn't accord with my thinking or opinion, but the original post on this thread says :
"We have the current thread with (unsubstantiated at present) claims of anti-cycling police by Wetherspoons.......................",
I knew, and still know, nothing of all that.

Just as an aside - I've found that how palatable the food is does vary widely from branch to branch! but I don't want to get into a debate about that aspect of 'Spoons. I just ask about any "anti-cycling police by Wetherspoons".
