Reuse, recycle, thus do your bit to save the planet.... Get stuff at auctions, Dump, Charity Shops, Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, Car Boots. Choose an Old House, and a Banger ..... And cycle as often as you can......

You can even state your village and see the maps.

The walklakes.co.uk site will display 1:50k and 1:25k maps, and has a limited ability to create and display gpx files on them, if you create a free account.
Bing maps will display them for free as well.
On Android, an app called Maverick will display 1:50 and 1:25k OS maps, and can download them in advance for use when you don't have a data connection. Cached maps are stored in the standard tile format, so they can be used in other apps as well.

If you download the OS Maps app, you get a simplified version of the OS map for free.

Kind-of depends what the OP wants to achieve - they weren't that specific. If the purpose is simply to browse - and perhaps switch readily between 25 to 50 k scale, which were both mentioned, then streetmap is hard to beat. Complete UK coverage, easy to search, free to access, simple to grab a screenshot and print.
They may have other plans, tho'... hard to tell

If you are feeling bold and run an Android phone, you can download the unsupported Rmaps app. It's no longer available from an official repository but you can get the last version from https://m.apkshub.com/app/com.robert.maps
One of the map options is OS and includes Landranger 1:50,000 of the whole of the UK.
Use at your own risk (I do).

You can plot a route online using OS Explorer 1:25000 maps then generate a gpx file.

Probably going to be critised for this comment however - why free? The OS needs to raise money somehow to continue working, so having it free maens you are using , but not contributing to the cost, which seems a little unfair.

What he said. Once you start to think about taking something without paying for it is a form of theft, well unless the owner gives it to you or authorises others to do so. Perhaps I misunderstand but If theft is OK with anyone then they shouldn’t mind if I help myself to their assets, nick their bike or pick their pockets. The OS does need to raise money, it has to be self supporting, so not paying for its maps (which aren’t that dear) when you use them doesn’t support a business who’s products we all value.
Don’t fret, it’s OK to: ride a simple old bike; ride slowly, walk, rest and admire the view; ride off-road; ride in your raincoat; ride by yourself; ride in the dark; and ride one hundred yards or one hundred miles. Your bike and your choices to suit you.
