I am planning a sponsored cycle climb of 29,029 feet, by cycling up Prescott hill-climb road 148 times, with a target of £1,800 for NHS charities (specifically, Above and Beyond, the Bristol hospitals charity).
This is a primer, really, as the riding starts on Monday 15th June and it may not be completed if my knees or back give out,
but will supply regular updates on facebook during the 6 to 7+ days it may take.
I will need plenty of brake blocks for the returns downhill. Taking a beat-up cheap mountain bike, lashed up hybrid a 1953 Armstrong consort and a 1964 'Ron Cooper' AS Gillott (the latter two with more modern equipment!!). Might even try a couple of rides up the 60 metre hill on the Brompton.....
Thanks, Andy Short.
Sponsorship request in aid of NHS charities.

Re: Sponsorship request in aid of NHS charities.
I give my boss a fairly generous sum to cycle from Bath to Paris in aid of NHS-something-or-other but it got cancelled 'cos of C19, innit...

Re: Sponsorship request in aid of NHS charities.
I make it 60 metres from the bottom gate to the summit.
I am thinking how to do the facebook page as I might get a lot of junk if I make my page 'public'.
Any ideas?
The 52 Rotrax and 53 Armstrong and hack bike have modern triple ring shimano setups with 30, 21 and 21 speeds respectively. The Gillott has 16 gears with somewhat older shimano gears. I will be rotating bikes so I don't get frozen in one riding position.

Just a variety of wide-ratio gears, several bikes.
I don't do sponsored events that I or most people would normally do and they must have a degree of difficulty.
I may not be able to complete it but will try.

+1for avoiding TDC, the tragedy of drive-cycling
Entertainer, juvenile, curmudgeon, PoB, 30120
Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

Re: Sponsorship request in aid of NHS charities.
The 15th June start of my 29,000ft sponsored cycle climb approaches.
Not much sponsorship yet, but hopefully that will change when the hard riding starts.
Current training is 7 times up the hill between Duchess gates, Frenchay, and Lutyens Close, up well past the Dower House, mornings and evenings. Even that is only half the climb I need to do daily on the ride proper

The pain has started. Between late yesterday and 8am today, 15 climbs. That's 900metres and 10%.
Please consider sponsoring me in aid of the Bristol NHS charity 'Above and Beyond'.
Picture is the start up to The Bridge.

Chance to cycle up Private Prescott speed hillclimb.
I am finishing my cycle up Prescott Hill, the private hill that is Prescott Speed Hillclimb, Friday 19th June at 1pm.
The hill is near Gretton just north of Cheltenham.
If any local members would like to cycle up this 60 metre scenic climb, this is a rare opportunity.
Just turn up with a bike ( by car if needs be) and put your head round the office door.
I won't be cycling fast uphill but that doesn't mean others mustn't.
Sensible speeds back down as the road is used by households on the hill.
