According to Collins in American English it means to stop funding but in British English it means to remove funding. So there is a technical difference. In America defund sounds like no more money, in Britain it allows for removing some, but not all, funding. But it'll mean whatever people want it to mean.

This. I could have got behind the movement if it hadn't been hijacked by a left wing agenda. And this is where Cycling UK made an error in judgement supporting BLM.
Cycling UK are not supporting the organisation Black Lives Matter. Reading the statement it's clear that their position on the wider issues being raised following the protests is focused on addressing any discrimination and prejudice in Cycling UK's own organisation, cycling promotion and campaigning.
Completely disagree. CUK's statement and photo of the BLM graffiti was overtly political and had nothing to do with cycling in the UK. Their timing was poor - coming just after the protests in London that turned violent. Where does it end? Why don't they comment on the oppression of Hong Kong by China for instance?

That is a racist thing to say. You are saying I can't have an opinion because I am white.
Not at all. You may have as many mistaken opinions as you like. What you should not do is presume to know about the experiences of people which you cannot, by definition, share. And still less tell them that they are mistaken about their experiences.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

They aren't mistaken - that is just your opinion. Doesn't make you right.
I'm all for promoting cycling to a wide a population as possible - including BAME, LGBT, disabled. They just shouldn't have jumped on the BLM bandwagon.
''people of colour '' actors who white up -- funny
white people who kill people of colour - racist murderers
people of colour who kill white people - murderer
White people who smash up cities and loot shops ------ criminals / looters
people of colour who smash up shops and loot - protesters fighting for their rights to protest

Lets get back on with our lives...jumping on bandwagons isn't required especially in the current world crisis where people are dying . We cant change the past but we can learn from the future .
