Germany has 365 types of bread
France has 365 types of cheese
..
Might be with moving to Strasbourg or Kehl or SCHENGEN to take advantage of both
365x365 = 133 225
One could have a different cheese sandwich every day for 365 years

What is the shortest German word?

I get trouble when buying a train ticket to Par: think I'll give Germany a miss.

Niederschoeneweide (lower beautiful meadow) is a district in Berlin

In certain circles it is called 'Niederschweineoede' (lower piggish misery)

German 'humour', minusplus?

I have no idea what the longest German word is, but...
My friends who I saw at the week-end have young children and one game they play with their dad is to see how many words they can get out of a longer word, in the example we tried was:
illustration
Chris and the girls got 88, including some proper nouns, plurals and slang words (they are only 6 & 8...) whereas I, with my ex-teacher's hat on, stopped at 110, excluding proper nouns, plurals and slang words.

Can anyone suggest an English translation for 'Mittelgebirge', middle-sized mountains? Fells? Munros?

'Fahrtwind' is one of my favourites, it denotes the breeze one creates by tootling along, even in still weather
A good word to motivate one to go cycling in hot weather, minusplus

Still not as long as the longest English word
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

'Falkplanfalschfalter' is a rather nice insult
= Falk plan wrong folder

Falk Plans are those queer street maps with a complicated three-dimensional fold, a Falschfalter is someone unable or unwilling to furl the map tidily back into the cover :?

Stosslueftung
=
Full-monty ventilation

German windows are very good, airtight, so this dreadful custom has emerged: open all windows as wide as possible, leave them open until the room is much too cold, then keep them closed all day, soon the room is much too hot :?
So one then opens them all again..
