Stones, Let It Bleed - the one with Delia Smith's cake on the cover. 1969 - their eighth studio album - funky, sassy and a bit raw.
(Think about Led Zep whose first four albums were stellar but who'd shot their bolt by Houses of The Holy, with the exception of a handful of later tracks - Kashmir...)
I know they've turned into a bit of standing joke - The Strolling Gnomes - UK's greatest rockin' pensioners etc.etc. (keep a look out, Keith & Mick - Bono and his chum, bald Dave, are hard on your heels...), but back in their hey-day, they pretty much wrote the rule-book for white-trash, celebrity, self-made geezers. Disney & Depp's Jack Sparrow was based on Keef & Ron Wood arrived as a pre-wrinkled Keef clone... practically every other rock band's front-man came straight out of Mick's mould...

I know that classical music is not for everyone, and classical choral music even less. But if you have an interest, or even a moderately open musical mind, have a listen.

I've heard this piece countless times, and have sung it several times, but this is pre-eminent in my view, especially the soprano solo.

Good but not quite as good as Allegri's Miserere.

According to some what is now the female solo hitting the top C would once have been sung by a castrato.

I was about to show the Copenhagen Ars Nova choir singing this. I have never heard a soprano sing that high note so effortlessly.
