Effort or Speed?
Re: Effort or Speed?
This is a recent eBike ride I did, averaging over 18mph on a 17kg hybrid with mudguards. The motor cut off is 15.5mph.
At the end of the ride my legs were killing me, trying to sustain 20mph on the flat/1% gradient is hard work on the bike. I've just ordered some aero bars for the hybrid eBike to see if I can make it less painful to push through the air at faster speeds.
There is no reason why you cannot have a good work out on any eBike, I'm loving mine at the moment. It gets me to work unsweaty regardless of the wind/rain, but coming home I can really smash it. If I wasn't on my eBike I dare say I would be driving to work these days rather than cycling.
Finally as they say, its doesn't get any easier, you just go faster .

More cycling is bad enough, one earnestly hopes they drive less

Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

I do not want more people cycling, especially not where I cycle, whether ebikes or other types of cycle
Less motoring would be great, it does not mean the same as more cycling
It would be best if there was a lot less travel by whatever means

He is right you know. I want to see fewer engines on thecroad and if this means bikes then so be it. However cycling is not the fun it once was as there are too many people doing it with all the associated cost involved.
Re: Effort or Speed?
Can I suggest that the last 2 posters take the lead by giving up their cycling

Interesting suggestion but sorry, I shall be cycling more soon as the weather gets better
Besides, there are fewer cyclists here in winter

Just like the politicians - "do as I say and not as I do"

Sort of right
I favour less motor traffic too, gave up my vehicle, retired and moved somewhere with shops in walking distance
