Of a peaked cap with mesh insert in peak?

Probably an unusual requirement because of my lack of flexibility (spinal and more general).

I wear a peaked (baseball style) cap when riding to keep the sun out of my eyes.
I do have photochromatic glasses but sunlight can get round the edges.

All is well until I am cycling into a strong headwind and need to get my head down.
At that point I cannot swivel my head up far enough to look a long way ahead.

What would probably be enormously helpful would be a peaked cap with a mesh insert in the peak so that it would cut out some direct sunlight but also allow me to see ahead when my head is down.

Never seen one.
Is there such a thing?

Could you find a cap that you can fold the peak up. We used to do that with our school caps, much to the annoyance of the powers that be.

Old style cricket caps (think baggy green) would do.

the traditional solution is very simple; a flip-up peak



The angle change with the flip varies a lot from one hat/head to another so you may need to try a few different ones before you find one that is right.

To all those suggesting a traditional cycling cap where you can flip the peak up.

I wimped out of mentioning that I wear it under a cycle helmet (to avoid instant flame wars).
The cycle helmet prevents me from flipping up the peak of the cap (or twizzling it around, or perching it over one ear, or...).

That is the issue with baseball caps - the peak is massive so gets in the way a lot.

How about something like a croupier shade which would fit over the plastic hat. If you still need something underneath then a skull cap will do that job. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/2240470946

Will you wear it under a "road" or "MTB" helmet?
I have no problems flipping the peak up on both summer and winter caps worn under my road helmet.The peak on MTB helmets would possibly prevent this being an option.

I wear my cap under a helmet too, no problem flipping the peak up and down.

very probably the helmet can be adjusted to provide more clearance for flipping the peak.

This, https://www.castelli-cycling.com/gb/ros ... 535STP-034 is my favourite cap of the moment. Sorry, it hasn't got a mesh peak but it does have a mesh front panel with a fold back cover.

Now I admit that sounds a bit strange, and it is, but boy does it work. On sunny days I get both ventilation and eye protection from the sun (if flipped down). Cooler days, cover back in place and bit more protection. Wet, well something that thin is never going to be really waterproof is it, but it'll keep the worst of it off.
